Kalank out beats Dilwale; becomes Varun Dhawan’s highest opening day grosser

After much hype and promotions we finally saw the release of the Abhishek Varman directed film Kalank. Starring an ensemble cast of ~Varun Dhawan, ~Alia Bhatt, ~Sanjay Dutt, ~Madhuri Dixit, ~Sonakshi Sinha, and ~Aditya Roy Kapur, the film opened on a good note. Released across 4000 screens in the domestic market Kalank that has been one of the most talked about and keenly anticipated releases this year opened with a bang, drawing in a staggering Rs. 21.60 cr.

In this box office report we take a look at the opening day collections of Kalank while comparing the same to Varun Dhawan’s previous releases. Interestingly, with Rs. 21.60 cr coming in on its opening day the business of Kalank has managed to out beat the business of Varun Dhawan’s previous release Dilwale that had collected Rs. 21 cr to become the actor’s highest opening day grosser till date. If that wasn’t all, the business of Kalank also surpassed Varun’s other releases like Judwaa 2 that collected Rs. 16.1 cr, ABCD 2 that collected Rs. 14.3 cr, Badrinath Ki Dulhania that collected Rs. 12.25 cr, Dishoom that collected Rs. 11.05 cr, and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania that collected Rs. 9.02 cr, Sui Dhaaga – Made in India that collected Rs. 8.30 cr, Student of The Year that collected Rs. 7.48 cr, Badlapur that collected Rs. 7 cr, Main Tera Hero that collected Rs. 6.60 cr and October that collected Rs. 4.25 cr.

Currently enjoying the audiences’ favour and being the only major release this week, Kalank is expected to see growth.
